Guides
Slate is the traditional tournament surface: dense, consistent, and very heavy. Engineered wood (MDF) is the light, affordable choice for casual play, though it's sensitive to humidity. Slate-Tech, our high-density composite with a structural wood core, gives the feel of slate at about 40% less weight.
Let your room set the limit, then choose by who plays. Our 7 to 7.5 ft tables suit quick, casual games and need a room of about 16 ft x 13 ft. Our 8 to 8.5 ft tables give more seasoned players longer shots and need about 17 ft x 13.5 ft.
Barrington pool tables weigh from 121 lb (Urban 5.5 ft) to 514 lb (Monteray Slate-Tech 7.5 ft 3-in-1). Most of our 7 ft tables weigh 187 to 366 lb, and our 8 to 8.5 ft tables 252 to 396 lb. Our Slate-Tech playfield weighs approximately 40% less than slate.
Plan for about 5 feet from the edge of the playing surface to the wall on every side: add 10 feet to the playing surface's length and width. Most of our 7 ft tables need a room of about 16 ft x 13 ft; our 8 ft tables, 17 ft x 13.5 ft; our 8.5 ft tables, 17.5 ft x 13.5 ft.
